Bboy Leony Biography, Life Story, Breaking Journey, and Facts:
Bboy Leony was born in Belém. Brazil. He used to play soccer and practiced karate as a hobby and wanted to have a career in advertising. He has been breaking since the age of 12 when one of his cousins told him about a man in São Braz square who could turn his head for five minutes without dying. Leony thought it was a lie at first but after seeing the man doing tricks with his own eyes getting immediately impressed he decided to do breaking.
He changed schools because of his training schedule therefore, he used to wake up at 4 am to get to school at 7 am in Belem which was 25 km away from his hometown. Bboy Leony used to repair bikes, worked as a salesman in a store, sold clothes, worked as a street vendor in a fair, and he was once a bricklayer’s helper.
He traveled for the first time at age 15 for the Battle of the Year in France. Leony is famously known because of his signature move Windmill with crossed legs. He links up his culture in breaking by using the indigenous part of his heritage i.e carimbó (a brazilian dance) and Tecno brega (music from brazil).
He also watches documentaries, interviews, and films related to hip hop. He teaches children in a breaking school for free. He listens to brega, techno melody, reggae, and piseiro before his performance. Bboy Leony has a physiotherapist and does functional training every other day. He practices breaking for 3 days in a week along with physical and mental training on the remaining days. He is married and has a son and is currently preparing to participate in the Olympic Games 2024. Leony is ranked 26th on the Olympic qualifier list with 860 points.
