Bboy Octopus Biography, Life Story, Breaking Journey, and Facts:
Bboy Octopus was introduced to the world of B-boying through a Korean comic book called “Hiphop.” Fascinated by the dance, he began following his friends who were already into it at his school. However, his real breakthrough came when he attended a training session with the Jinjo crew, where he was truly captivated by their skills and presence.
Bboy Octopus recalls that moment as the turning point that made him realize his deep desire to become a B-Boy. The Jinjo crew impressed him so much that he aspired to emulate their cool style and be like them. Hence, Octopus embraced the B-Boy culture, and his signature moves include the swaying footwork and a modified version of the chair freeze, performed while spinning. As for his name, it was inspired by a Greek mythological figure representing a demon or monster, as well as the number eight, which resembles the infinity sign when turned on its side. Nowadays, he often goes by the name “Octo.”
Throughout his journey, Bboy Octopus drew inspiration from his fellow team members and other dancers both within and outside the B-Boy community. Becoming a B-Boy had a profound impact on his life, opening doors to new experiences, friendships, and a broader perspective of the world. He expresses his gratitude for the significant people he met along the way, particularly his cherished team members.
Bboy Octopus key to success lies in his unwavering determination. To keep himself motivated, he wrote “2014 Red Bull BC One Busan Cypher Winner” on a piece of paper and carried it in his pocket to remind himself of his goal whenever he felt weary. Visualizing victory became a daily ritual for him. When the day of the competition arrived, he remained steadfast in his belief that he could triumph, channeling his energy from the beginning to the end of the match. This determination and focus played a crucial role in his achievements as a B-Boy.
