The Morning of Owl is a 5-member breaking crew from Suwon, South Korea which was founded in 2002. They won the Battle of the Year in 2012.

Morning of Owl Facts:

Morning of Owl is a b-boy crew that originated in Suwon, South Korea, in 2002 and used to be called “PAS” initially which meant (PA = Power Moves) and (S = Style Moves) and later changed the name of the crew from PAS to Morning of Owl in 2005. 

According to Seung-Ju Lee, the crew’s manager, explained the meaning behind their name. He said, “Our team name is ‘Morning of Owl.’ The idea is that owls are awake at night, experiencing a calm and seeing things others miss. We aim to draw inspiration from this and share it on stage as the morning arrives.”

They appeared in the project performance “Dolgo” with Myosung Crew at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2006. After that, they appeared in performances on different platforms but were not that active for the breaking battles and from 2010 to 2011, the team went to complete their mandatory military service together and their activities halted. 

In 2012 after coming back from military service, they won the Battle of the Year Korea and made it to the top four in the Battle of the Year World Finals. The year 2013 also became their best year as they won multiple battles including R-16 Korea, R-16 World B-Boy Masters Championship, Break the Floor in Cannes, France, Block Party Battle in France, Rochefort Battle in France, DLK Inspiration Jam Battle in Sweden, United Styles World Finals in Switzerland, Rockin Sensation in Korea, Dance Live Korea Battle Side, Gangjin Bboy Masters Championship, and UK B-Boy Championships. 

They also competed in the second season of “World of Dance,” in 2018 where they advanced to the Duels stage but were eliminated. Moreover, their most favorite performance was the “Dust Motes” performance that they performed at the Korean preliminary round of the Battle of the Year because they thought this performance had the most potential and it is number one favorite because it helped them think about their far future.

Controversy

In 2016, Sknuf, Pocket, and Gon left the crew because of a lack of payments. At the time, Bboy Sez was the leader and he posted an apology letter to the members who had left saying that he lacked a leader and would take responsibility. After that, they all made accusatory comments online on an official fan cafe post and claimed that the then leader “Sez” was not answering their phone even after the apology post. Later, the comments were deleted from the post and Sez withdrew from the leader position and became a manager.
