The Ruggeds is a 9-member breaking group from The Netherlands which was founded in 2005. They have won the prestigious UK Bboy Championships in 2014.

The Ruggeds Crew Facts

The Ruggeds come from Eindhoven, a city in the southern part of the Netherlands. They have been recognized as World Champions. They also appeared in the music video ‘Where Are U Now’ by Justin Bieber and made an appearance on ‘NBC’s World Of Dance Season 2’. 

Over time, they have won more than 200 Breaking competitions and secured their first World Title in 2014 at the UK Bboy Championships. In 2015, they stepped into something new by debuting a shorter version of ‘Adrenaline’ at Breakin’ Convention in London. This marked their transition into a Breaking/Breakdance Company. They were then chosen to tour the USA, performing at renowned venues like the Apollo in New York. 

This theater production allowed them to explore new ways to express themselves. In 2019, they premiered ‘Between Us’, which was showcased throughout the Netherlands, including at ‘Lowlands’, a major festival. As they enter a new decade, they are taking time to reflect and set higher goals. Some of them are determined to win the first gold medal in Breaking at the 2024 Olympic Games, and they are already training for it.

Bboy Roy was born in Woensel, Eindhoven. Dancing began for him because his family celebrated birthdays in a dancing way, and his parents often played motown music at home. A friend named Virgil told him about a breakdancing class nearby. This is where he met Bboy Jessy and others from The Ruggeds. After joining an open practice session on Saturdays and getting to know everyone, he had to decide between playing soccer with a special team and focusing on breakdancing. Choosing breakdancing was a bit tough on his dad, but it made him really concentrate on breakdancing and his creative expression.

Bboy Zoopreme from The Ruggeds began his journey in breaking when he was 11 years old in 2003. He first saw this type of dancing on TV. His close friend from school, Morten Hector, taught him some dance moves. They both started taking breaking classes at a dance studio called Hotstepper in Denmark. His breaking name, “Zoopreme” was given to him by an old friend named Samir because he often wore a cap with the ‘Supreme’ brand during his teenage years.
